Every cost figure we publish is anchored to a researched range. We do not list quotes; we list realistic ranges so you can spot when you're being over- or under-charged.

How we research costs

Cost ranges are researched estimates. They are assembled from pricing information published by providers, trade sources, and industry cost reporting available at the time each guide is written, then reviewed before publication.

They are not quotes, and they are not primary statistical data — we do not conduct our own pricing survey. Treat a range as a way to budget and to sanity-check a quote you have been given, not as a price you are entitled to. Every guide shows the date it was last updated, and the calculator on each page derives its estimate from the same published range.
