Information we collect

We do not run analytics software, tracking scripts, or advertising tags on this site, and we do not set our own cookies. There are no accounts, and no form on this site asks for personal information.

Like any website, CostGuide is delivered by servers that record standard request data — IP address, browser user agent, the page requested, and a timestamp — which our hosting provider and our CDN, Cloudflare, process in order to serve pages and protect the site from abuse. We do not use those records to build profiles of visitors, and the cost calculator on each guide runs entirely in your browser: the values you enter are never sent to us.

Cookies and third-party advertising

CostGuide does not currently display advertising, and no advertising cookies are set today. We intend to display third-party advertisements, including Google AdSense. This section describes what will apply once they are enabled, and we will update the date above when that happens.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or the aboutads.info opt-out page.

Data retention

We keep no analytics database, because we collect no analytics. The server request logs described above are collected into a log system we run ourselves, on the same server, and are automatically deleted after 14 days. They are not sold, shared, or exported to third parties. Once advertising is enabled, ad cookies will be governed by the policies of each ad network rather than by us.

Children's privacy

CostGuide is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Residents of California, the EU, the UK, and other jurisdictions with applicable privacy laws may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address on the contact page.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
